Ferry crashes into harbor wall; 11 injured lightly

Eleven people were injured when a passenger ferry hit a harbor wall at the port of Igoumenitsa, in northwestern Greece, while the vessel was in the process of docking on Wednesday morning.

The injured, including six pupils on a school excursion, were taken to Igoumenitsa health center for first-aid treatment but there were no reports of any serious injuries.

Several vehicles were also damaged in the collision, according to local port authority officials, who suggested that the vessel’s ramp might have been damaged.

A total 187 passengers were aboard the ferry at the time of the accident.
