House speaker orders Parliament to re-examine Siemens, Lagarde list cases

Greek Parliament was expected to re-examine the cases of the Siemens bribe scandal and the Lagarde list, following an order issued by House Speaker Zoe Constantopoulou on Thursday in her capacity as head of the House’s Special Permanent Committee on Institutions and Transparency.

The Siemens case involves Greek officials accepting bribes from the German giant to secure state contracts, while the Lagarde List refers to a list of Greeks with back accounts in a Geneva-branch of HSBC.

Constantopoulou currently heads Parliamentary committees on Greece’s public debt as well as the country’s claims to Second World War reparations from Germany.
