Karamanlis tops poll as Samaras’s successor
Former prime minister Kostas Karamanlis is the most popular candidate to succeed Antonis Samaras should he step down as leader of the conservative party, a new poll has found.
The MRB poll for Real News saw 20.2 percent name Karamanlis as the best successor, ahead of Dora Bakoyannis (17.5 pct), Dimitris Avramopoulos (5.5 pct), Nikos Dendias (5.3 pct), and Kyriakos Mitsotakis (5.1 pct).
Karamanlis was prime minister of Greece between 2004 and 2009.
