ERT gets new chiefs, prepares to start service

Singer-songwriter Dionysis Tsaknis was confirmed on Tuesday as the new chairman of public broadcaster ERT, which is to reopen two years after it was shut down following the passing of relevant legislation through Parliament.

Tsaknis will be flanked by journalist Lambis Tagmatarchis, who was named CEO. Tagmatarchis has served in the role before and was appointed despite objections from POSPERT, the union representing ERT employees.

The executive board’s lineup is due to be decided this week. After that, former staff will be appointed to their positions and broadcasts will begin.
