Policemen slam Constantopoulou over Parliament toilet breaks

Police officers have slammed parliamentary speaker Zoe Constantopoulou after she allegedly barred riot police from using Parliament’s toilets over the weekend.

The head of the union representing Athens policemen, Grigoris Gerakaros, accused Constantopoulou of “tyrannical and racist” behavior. He said he would ask Alternate Minister for Citizens’ Protection, Yiannis Panousis, to withdraw the squads of riot police stationed outside the House.

“It is not acceptable that we suffer this type of behavior when we are there to serve and protect Parliament,” he told Mega TV.

Constantopoulou also prompted criticism from policemen recently when she was filmed chiding and officer outside Parliament for preventing protesters passing by the House.
