Tsipras heads cabinet meeting in Athens on Friday
Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras was heading a cabinet meeting at the Maximos Mansion on Friday to determine the government’s next moves with regard to ongoing negotiations with the institutions aimed at reaching an agreement that would unblock 7.2 billion euros in bailout funds.
Sources suggested the Greek administration insisted on political negotiations with the country’s creditors.
The Greek administration on Thursday was given 24 hours to come up with its own counter-proposals to the ones already made by the country’s lenders – the European Union, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund. The request was made during a meeting with eurozone officials in Brussels on the same day.
Media reports on Friday indicated that during the meeting officials for the first time discussed the possibility of a Plan B for Greece.
