Hailstorm takes Ioannina residents by surprise
Even as much of Greece sweltered with temperatures above the 35 Celsius (95 Fahrenheit) mark on Monday, conditions began to change in much of the country with strong winds and a sudden hailstorm surprising residents of Ioannina, northwestern Greece.
The hailstones were the size of hazelnuts, according to local reports which said strong winds uprooted several trees.
In the old town, a large tree fell on four cars, causing serious damage but no injuries.
