SYRIZA MEP Sofia Sakorafa announces independence
Prominent SYRIZA MEP Sofia Sakorafa on Friday announced her independence from the leftist party's group in the European Parliament, saying she could not support austerity measures.
"It's clear that I cannot support any government nor any policies that involve measures that harm the people," she said, expressing her opposition too against neoliberal policies.
"I believe that the choice of another course is not only socially necessary and a historic imperative but is also politically attainable," she added in a statement announcing her decision to break from the party group.
