Man, 79, to face trial for animal cruelty
A 76-year-old man from Keratea, east of Athens, is set to stand trial over accusations that he beat his dog with a whip.
The suspect was arrested on September 7 after a neighbor reported seeing him abuse his dog to volunteers to a local animal shelter, which in turn notified the authorities. His trial is set to start on Monday.
The dog is currently being treated at a free veterinary clinic in Koropi.
