Tsipras expected to speak with Putin on Friday

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras was expected to speak by telephone on Friday evening with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Putin has already sent a message of congratulations to Tsipras for winning last Sunday's general elections.

No information was released about the likely content of Friday's conversation but it is expected that the two leaders will discuss matters of joint economic and political interest.

Late on Thursday, Tsipras spoke by phone with US President Barack Obama who expressed support for eventual debt relief for Greece and solidarity for Greece and the European Union in the face of the refugee crisis.
