Two main unions to hold walkout on November 12
The country’s umbrella union for civil servants, ADEDY, on Tuesday called on members to stage a strike on November 12, joining the private sector union, GSEE.
ADEDY said it was calling its action to protest pension reforms being planned by the government which, it said, will deal the “final blow” to cash-starved Greek social security funds.
GSEE called its strike on Monday after coalition MPs approved a rash of austerity measures, including further pension cuts and tax increases, in a bid to unlock rescue loans.
