Syrians detained on Kos are released

Two Syrian nationals detained early Tuesday by Greek coast guard officers on the island of Kos in the eastern Aegean, were released on Thursday.

The two men were under investigation for possible links with Islamic State, after authorities detected stored photographs of jihadis on their mobile phones.

According to sources, the two men may have been members of an armed group fighting against Syria’s Assad regime.
