Aristotle university solidarity sit-in ends

A sit-in by students at the administration building of Aristotle University in Thessaloniki in protest at the detention of five peers over their alleged involvement in riots in Italy earlier this year, has ended.

The five Greek students were detained on November 12 on a European warrant issued by Italian authorities, for their alleged participation in violent protests in Milan on May 1, during the city’s Expo Milano 2015.

All five were conditionally released after facing a Thessaloniki prosecutor. Meanwhile, a protest rally was expected to take place at the northern port city’s Italian consulate on Tuesday.
