Speaker to discuss independent agencies’ boards with opposition
Parliament Speaker Nikos Voutsis said on Thursday that he would begin discussing with opposition parties this week the appointment of new executive boards to Greece’s independent bodies, including the National Council of Radio and Television (ESR) and the Supreme Council of Personnel Selection (ASEP).
Voutsis said he is hopeful that a cross-party agreement can be reached by the end of the year.
However, sources at New Democracy suggested the party might not be in a position to agree to the board members who will be appointed until its members have elected a new party leader, which could happen in early January.
