Patra rail links set to improve

Railway authorities announced plans over the weekend to reopen the Patra-Pyrgos-Kalamata railway line, which has been closed for several years.
It is the latest train-related development involving the western port city of Patra.
There are already plans in place for the Proastiakos suburban railway to be extended from Kato Achaia to Patra, while the Hellenic Railways Organization (OSE) is also laying a new track to the city.
The new line from Aigio in the northern Peloponnese is due to reach Psathopyrgos, near Patra, next year. The station will be just a 15-minute bus ride from the city center.
