Chief appointed for Greek privacy watchdog

Christos Zampiras was appointed head of the Hellenic Authority for Communication Security and Privacy (ADAE) on Thursday after a vote in Parliament’s conference of the presidents, attended mainly by the speaker and deputy speakers.
Zampiras was elected head of the privacy watchdog, where he had been the alternate vice president since 2012, by 19 votes to two.
It is the first time that the current Parliament has managed to elect a new head of an independent authority.
Previous attempts failed due to disagreements between the parties.
