Unilateral measures turning Greece into ‘giant refugee camp,’ Anagnostopoulou says

Deputy Education Minister Sia Anagnostopoulou on Friday criticized Vienna for undermining efforts to reach a common European response on the migration crisis by siding with hardline members of the bloc who want to step up restrictions, including closing borders, to stop the inflow.

“The policies of Austria and Hungary are turning Greece into a giant refugee camp," Anagnostopoulou told state broadcaster ERT.

She said criticism of Greece’s migrant effort was unfair.

“What are we supposed to do: Let people drown in the Aegean Sea?," she said.

"Instead of making a plan. Europe is burying its head in the sand… Europe is unraveling,” she said.
