Lawyers extend strike to Friday, accountants rally

Greek lawyers on Monday said they will extend their ongoing strike over pension reforms until Friday.
The Athens Bar Association (DSA) said it decided to continue the action, which began mid-January, because it saw no willingness on the part of the government to back down from its planned pension cuts.
“The government has, so far, taken no initiative to meet our demands to withdraw the draft pension bill,” the association said in a statement.
Accountants are due to protest in front of the Finance Ministry’s general secretariat for information systems at 10 a.m. Tuesday. They are also planning to block the entrances to tax offices in the coming days as part of their demonstrations.
