GSEE plans protest, threatens two-day strike

The General Confederation of Greek Workers Union (GSEE), the country’s largest private sector union, will hold a demonstration at Syntagma next Wednesday against government plans to cut pensions.

The union is demanding the withdrawal of what it described as the “immoral” and “unacceptable” pension reform bill, warning that it will call a general two-day national strike if the legislation is submitted to Parliament.

“GSEE will continue its struggle until the government’s dogmatic obsession with memorandum policies comes to an end,” the union said in a statement.
