Thessaloniki man arrested for trapping stray cats at canteen
A 58-year-old man was arrested on Thursday in Thessaloniki for setting traps to catch stray cats wandering around his canteen and will stand trial today on charges of animal abuse.
After being notified by animal rights groups, police said they found a caged cat inside a truck parked next to the man’s canteen.
The man reportedly told police that although he loves cats, the animal he caged annoyed him because it would jump up on the canteen tables.
Animal rights groups claimed he set makeshift traps in the area around his canteen and that three more cats had been caged and are missing.
