Child molester in Greek refugee camp facing deportation
An 18-year-old Syrian man was facing deportation after being charged with sexually abusing two Syrian girls, aged 6 and 7, in a makeshift migrant reception center in Giannitsa, northern Greece.
The man is alleged to have abused the girls in the bathroom of the facility, a converted former slaughterhouse, last Sunday.
The two girls, who are staying at the center with their father, informed an acquaintance at the center who briefed on-site doctors and the police.
An examination by a medic and child psychologist determined that the girls were sexually abused.
The 18-year-old was in detention at Giannitsa’s main police station and is expected to be deported in the coming days.
