Alternate health minister asks KEELPNO board to step down

Alternate Health Minister Pavlos Polakis asked the members of the board of directors of the Hellenic Center for Disease Control and Prevention (KEELPNO) to resign late on Wednesday. The alternate minister took to his Facebook account to announce the appointment of a new boad in the near future.

The move came following disagreements between Polakis and the board over a list of candidates being considered for appointments at Intensive Care Units in hospitals around Greece. A first list of candidates approved by KEELPNO was subsequently amended by the ministry.

Speaking to Skai on Thursday, KEELPNO head Thanassis Giannopoulos said the board was not prepared to step down.
