There will be no metro or ISAP electric railway service in Athens on Easter Sunday due to a strike called on Thursday by workers, who are upset that their collective contract has not been agreed.
“We are concerned that the government and the new management at STASY [which oversees fixed-track forms of transport in the capital] have blocked the negotiations over a new collective contract, which is line with the practices of previous governments and management,” said the employees’ union.
The workers are demanding fresh contract talks and for their current centrally bargained deal to apply until a new one is agreed. Regardless of the strike, the public transport system will operate on a reduced timetable from today until Tuesday night.
There will be no metro trains traveling to or from Athens International Airport from Saturday afternoon to Monday morning.
