Police officer accused of inciting attack on minister sues official

A police officer on the eastern Aegean island of Kos, accused by Panos Kammenos of instigating an assault against him last summer, has filed a 19,950-euro lawsuit against the defense minister for moral damages.
Kammenos, who is also chief of Independent Greeks, the junior party in the coalition government, was bombarded with eggs and heckled by a crowd during a visit to the island on August 21, in an incident that he later claimed was instigated by a specific police officer who served with the National Intelligence Service (EYP).
The Supreme Court prosecutor has forwarded the suit to Parliament.
