Traffic restrictions in central Athens for Olympic Day
Major thoroughfares in central Athens will be closed for a few hours on Wednesday for Olympic Day, an international celebration of the great sporting event.
Authorities said that the following roads will be closed from 5 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. on Wednesday evening: Vassileos Georgiou A, Vassilissis Amalias, Vassilissis Olgas and Athanasiou Diakou, while the top part of Amalias from Diakou Street, leading to and from Syntagma Square, will also be cordoned off.
Motorists are advised to avoid the city center during those hours or to use alternative routes.
