Three Syrians claim car ramming was racially motivated

Three Syrian refugees have taken legal action against a 40-year-old Greek man who allegedly hit them with his car last Saturday while they were walking along the side of the Thessaloniki-Kavala national road near a migrant reception center, claiming that the incident was a racially motivated attack.

The Syrians, two of whom are aged 31 and the other 34, were transferred to hospital, one with a broken leg, the others with less serious leg and head injuries.

The 40-year-old motorist handed himself in to the local Traffic Police precinct later on the day of the incident, according to local reports. He was found to been driving drunk and allegedly verbally abused the refugees.
