Appeals Court fire due to short circuit, not arson

Fire investigators on Tuesday said that a blaze in an office on the fourth floor of the Athens Appeals Court was the result of faulty electrical wiring and not arson.

The fire started late on Monday night, mobilizing authorities who feared it may have been the result of an arson attack or an effort at intimidation.

Judicial authorities said the office did not contain any important or confidential documents and that damage was restricted to the site of the blaze.
