Fifty one refugees, migrants reach Lesvos

A group of 51 migrants and refugees arrived on the island of Lesvos from Turkey on Wednesday, while another two migrants reached the island of Chios. No new arrivals were recorded on Samos.

According to authorities, under a relocation deal between the European Union and Turkey, the number of migrants and refugees stranded on Lesvos on Thursday stood at 3094, while 2478 were trapped on Chios and another 1079 on Samos.

A total of 6651 refugees and migrants on northern Aegean islands have applied for asylum, authorities said.
