Worker dies after falling from electricity pylon

A 41-year-old employee of a private repairs company was killed on Thursday after falling from an electricity pylon that he had been trying to fix near the village of Nea Avorani, close to Agrinio, in western Greece.

The Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator, which had ordered the repairs, issued a statement later in the day expressing its “deepest regret” for the incident, which saw the 41-year-old falling from a height of 12 meters.

The reason for the fall remained unclear.
