Iraklio airport shuts down for an hour following fuel leak

Nikos Kazantzakis Airport in Iraklio, Crete, was shut down for an hour on Monday evening due to a fuel leak from a Boeing 737 that had been scheduled to take off for Brussels.

Authorities said the airplane’s hydraulics system had failed as it was taxiing on the runway.

Flights into and out of the airport were delayed so that the runway could be cleaned.
