Larissa pensioners protest cuts

Pensioners in Larissa, central Greece, staged an anti-government rally Wednesday to protest a new round of pension cuts under the nation’s bailout program.

In a symbolic gesture, the protesters, who gathered outside the local branch of the Social Security Foundation (IKA), burned copies of a letter sent to them by former labor minister Giorgos Katrougalos explaining the pension changes.

Katrougalos has since been replaced by Effie Achtsioglou in a government reshuffle.
