KEELPNO urges flu jabs for the vulnerable

The Hellenic Center of Disease Control and Prevention (KEELPNO) is urging vulnerable groups of the population, and mainly the elderly, to get vaccinated against potent flu strands expected this winter.
According to the center, the H3N2 flu strain, which is known to cause serious medical complications in older people with pre-existing conditions, is also expected to affect people with chronic illnesses, pregnant women and the obese.
While the current flu vaccination reportedly offers only 50-70 percent protection against this strain, authorities insist that it remains the best preventive measure available.
