SYRIZA officials prevented from laying wreath at Thessaloniki university
Tensions rose at the Aristotle University in the northern port city of Thessaloniki on Thursday, when representatives of SYRIZA were prevented by members of leftist movements from laying a wreath on a memorial commemorating the November 17, 1973 student uprising against the military dictatorship at the National Technical University of Athens, known as the Polytechneio.
According to initial reports, the SYRIZA officials subsequently tried to enter the premises from a side entrance but were once again prevented by those present.
Similar tensions between SYRIZA officials and members of leftist organizations were observed at the University of Patra on Thursday.
