Sweet tooth angers lawyer

A Cretan lawyer is proposing to sue a major Greek confectioner after what initially seemed like an unusually tough almond in his chocolate bar turned out to be a human tooth, a report said yesterday. Yiannis Zevabinas, 45, first ensured that his own teeth were all in place, according to the story in the daily Ethnos. After a complaint allegedly failed to produce any response from the chocolate company, the Iraklion lawyer passed the offending gnasher on to the Hellenic Food Authority (EFET) for a more thorough inspection. The tooth thus made its way to the University of Thessaloniki’s dentistry department, where it was pronounced on Tuesday to belong to an elderly human being. Zevabinas said he would never forget his experience. «I keep thinking of small children which are totally unprotected when eating packaged foodstuffs,» he told Ethnos. «During these times, when our quality of life depends on packaged products, such mistakes are unforgivable.» Ethnos said the lawyer plans to take legal action.
