Travel body slams ferry union for extended strike

As ferries remained anchored in Greek ports Thursday for the third day in a row due to a seamen’s strike, the Hellenic Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (HATTA) hit out at the seamen’s union (PNO) for the protracted action, saying it was holding the Greek tourism sector hostage.

PNO had originally announced a 48-hour strike from Tuesday and then almost immediately called another 48-hour walkout which is to end at midnight Thursday night. HATTA said the protracted action would cause “irreparable damage to the economy” and underlined the risk of tourists canceling their upcoming holidays in Greece.
