Orthodox altar boys wait to escort Greek Orthodox Patriarch Irenaios and bishops to the Washing of the Feet ceremony outside the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, in east Jerusalem’s Old City yesterday. Tomorrow, Irenaios will go into the inner sanctum of the tomb in which Christians believe Christ was buried and resurrected, and come out with a flame that will be flown to Greece to be shared among churchgoers at Resurrection services.
