Representatives of stem cell storage company charged with fraud
An Athens prosecutor has brought criminal charges against 19 executives of a stem cell storage company whose economic collapse has left thousands of families uncertain about the future.
Charges have also been brought against the representatives of a leading healthcare provider which owned the stem cell bank until 2013.
The charges include fraud and complicity in fraud. The prosecutor said that the company had misled customers into believing that stem cells would be preserved for a long period of time, despite the lack of scientific evidence to back the claim.
Also, the prosecutor said, the representatives of the company had falsely claimed that stem cell bank in question had been licensed by the country’s health ministry.
