An Egyptian runner carries the Athens 2004 Olympic torch past the Giza pyramids yesterday as the flame, lit on March 25 at the archaeological site of Olympia, where the ancient Games were held, entered the African continent. The torch will be borne through South Africa today. The flame will enter Athens’s main Olympic stadium on August 13.
