Thessaly grape farmers…

Thessaly grape farmers empty crateloads of their produce on a road outside the town of Tyrnavos during a protest yesterday, in which they demanded state intervention to cut wine imports. The farmers blocked off the main approach to Tyrnavos, in one of Greece’s main agricultural regions, for two hours in a steady drizzle. Protesters, who complain that mass imports have resulted in their produce remaining unsold, or selling at ow prices, are seeking a meeting with Agriculture Minister Evangelos Bassiakos.
