Study lists posted
Two hopefuls intently study lists of passing grades for admission at Greece’s universities, technical colleges and military academies, posted outside the Education Ministry yesterday. A total of 100,861 high school graduates took part in the examinations for entry into higher education institutions. Of those, 71,905 passed, not always at the school they had marked as their first choice. A son of immigrants from Asia Minor, Kazantzidis emerged in the early 1950s, quickly establishing himself on the strength of an emotional vocal delivery. But the passion often spilled over into real life and led to feuds with both music industry officials and colleagues. His funeral service will be held this afternoon, at the Aghios Georgios Church in Elefsina.
