Man charged over child porn

A 39-year-old man was charged on Thursday with producing and distributing pornographic material, involving children as young as four, via the Internet after being arrested in his Athens apartment the previous day. Officers from the police electronic crimes squad raided the unnamed suspect’s home on Wednesday and seized thousands of pornographic images stored on discs, eight videotapes and three computer hard drives. Police also found three bank deposit books and six credit cards. Some photographs showed young children engaged in sexual acts between themselves as well as with adults, and some videotapes showed children crying as they were being sexually abused by adults, according to officers. The man is suspected of having been involved in peddling these images through a number of websites, in return for payment by credit card, since 2002. He is at least the 19th person to have been arrested in Greece since January 2004 on suspicion of distributing child pornography through the Internet.
