TV lawyers face Bar’s ire
Four lawyers have been ordered to face the Athens Bar Association’s disciplinary council over their roles in a television «reality» show broadcasting court disputes between citizens. The participation of high-profile lawyer and former actress Eliza Vosenberg and another three lawyers on Alpha Channel’s «Diafores» (Differences) constituted «unacceptable and disgraceful behavior for the profession,» Association President Dimitris Paxinos charged. Vosenberg, who played the role of court president in the show, was accused of «impermissible professional self-promotion.» All four lawyers were asked to submit written explanations for their conduct to the disciplinary council. Vosenberg was a parliamentary candidate on the New Democracy ticket last year. Prior to this, she served as spokesperson for the – now defunct – Movement of Free Citizens party set up by Dimitris Avramopoulos, the present minister for tourism.
