A participant in yesterday’s central Athens demonstration by students and university teaching staff against government education policy holds a poster labeling US President George W. Bush a ‘terrorist.’ Today, Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis kicks off an official visit to the United States with a meeting with Bush at the White House. Karamanlis and Bush are expected to discuss a series of matters of interest to Athens, such as Cyprus, Greece’s wobbly relations with Turkey, and the question of a new name for the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
