Full decoupling of subsidies from production

FOR – Farmer’s incomes will not decrease with continuation of subsidies. – Some farmers will be able to act according to the demands of the market. – Amateur farmers will give up agriculture. – It will create an opportunity for a new agricultural policy. AGAINST – It will reduce production of tobacco, olive oil, cereals, and other crops. – Many processing plants and businesses will close or move abroad. – Export of products such as tobacco will stop. – If there is no production, it will be easier to cut subsidies when CAP is re-examined.
