Staying at home

When 36 percent of Greeks state they will not be go on vacation at all this summer and 17 percent say they haven’t decided yet, it is not hard to see that prices are the problem. A closer look at the survey shows that 58 percent of those who say they have serious financial difficulties will not leave town, and the same goes for the 38 percent who say they have difficulty making ends meet. Many older Greeks will do without holidays altogether (46 percent of those between age 55 and 64 and 41 of those aged 65 and over). But four in 10 Greeks surveyed said they will go somewhere in Greece (usually the islands) and some 5 percent will go abroad.
