Man sets fire to aunt but he burns to death

A drunk man who tried to burn his 90-year-old aunt to death in a village in northern Greece yesterday ended up suffering fatal burns himself while the old woman escaped with serious injuries, police said. The incident occurred in Anthotopos, near Kozani, when a 52-year-old man doused his aunt in petrol and attempted to set her alight. But petrol also splashed onto the man, causing him to catch fire. The woman made her way out of the house, where neighbors put out the flames. Her nephew, however, was trapped inside and burned to death. The 90-year-old was taken to the hospital with burns to various parts of her body. Officers said Grigoriadis was an alcoholic and appeared to have been drunk at the time of his attack. His aunt said she did not have any differences with him and that he would visit her regularly to light her heating stove.
