Merchant Marine Minister Manolis Kefaloyiannis is shown after disembarking from a seaplane in Patras yesterday as he inaugurated the port’s new landing facility. Seaplanes will link Patras with the Ionian Islands as of next week with flights taking off twice a day. The plane trip from Patras to Corfu will take 40 minutes, compared to the six-hour ferry trip, and will cost 80 euros. Routes from Piraeus to the Cycladic islands and northern Aegean are scheduled to start this summer. The minister also said the ports of Piraeus, Patras and Iraklion will construct floating parking lots, which will accomodate 1,000 cars per lot.
