Over 1m volumes

The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki has more than 1 million books (not including issues of scholarly journals). The books, which are held in the main library, come from collections held by former educational institutions in Asia Minor, donations and purchases of private collections. They have been divided into seven different collections: The main collection, comprising 105,000 books and 30,000 booklets from various libraries, rare books (5,040 volumes), the Macedonia collection of 1,666 books on the ancient, Byzantine and modern Greek eras, school textbooks (1,530 volumes), doctoral dissertations (5,888 copies), the I. Trikoglou collection (11,763 titles and 3,614 works of art) and the Kondylis collection.
