Mother of missing boy calls for help

Authorities investigating the case of missing schoolboy Alex Meshivili started taking a new round of testimonies from suspects yesterday after investigations received a major setback on Tuesday as the mother of the 11-year-old called on the public to help police in their investigation efforts. Police sources said that they have started questioning again all parties suspected of being involved in the incident after DNA tests on Tuesday on blood found at the spot where Alex was thought to have been buried did not match samples taken from his mother. Police also ordered more laboratory tests in a bid to double-check the DNA, this time against some of Alex’s personal items, including a beanie and a bath sponge. The boy’s mother, Natela Ichuadze, called on the public to help bring an «end to this ordeal.» «I continue to believe that he is somewhere alive. Maybe I am not right, but I insist on this and continue to hope,» she added. Questioned on whether she believed an adult may have been involved in the alleged murder of her son, she replied that the five children who originally confessed to the crime are hiding some of the truth. «If you are careful when you listen to the children’s and parents’ tone of voice, it seems like they either know something more, are hiding something or are scared of something,» she said. Ichuadze also dispelled talk that police investigating the missing case moved too slowly by saying that she believes they have done their job well.
