Concrete find in hunt for machinery looters
Police are searching for the men who stole three huge mobile concrete pumps worth 1 million euros and hid them in a warehouse east of Athens as they attempted to find a foreign buyer for the heavy machinery. The organized crime squad said yesterday that it had raided a building in Koropi and found inside the three vehicles, which were stolen from a building site in Menidi, northern Athens, last month. One of the pumps is the only one of its type in Greece. It is thought that at least four men were involved but the identification they used to hire the warehouse proved false. The suspects allegedly worked with a contact in Syria to sell the pumps in the Middle East and officers have not ruled out the possibility that more stolen heavy machinery has been exported with forged paperwork.
